Demolition & dismantling Brighton

Local demolition & dismantling in Brighton & Hove

We take down sheds, summerhouses, greenhouses, garden walls, decking and non-structural internal features, and remove every scrap of the waste.

Light demolition and dismantling in Brighton & Hove covers everything from rotten sheds to old decking and garden walls. Brighton is around eleven miles east of our Worthing base, roughly thirty minutes along the A27 or the A259 through Shoreham and Hove. We work in gardens and homes across Hove, Kemptown, Hanover, Preston Park and Seven Dials.

We take the structure down, break it up and take every scrap away, recycling timber, metal and rubble where possible, and leave your Brighton & Hove garden clear.

Arranged via WhatsApp, great pricing and all rubbish cleared professionally and efficiently. Staff were friendly and polite. Highly recommended, much cheaper than getting a skip and loading it yourself.

Our demolition work is small-scale and non-structural. We work on garden buildings, boundary features and internal items such as kitchens, bathrooms and stud partitions. For anything involving structural walls, foundations or larger buildings, you need an engineer and a specialist demolition contractor, and we will tell you honestly if your job falls into that category.

Local knowledge

Demolition & dismantling in Brighton & Hove: what we know locally

Every town has its own quirks. These are the things that shape demolition & dismantling jobs in Brighton & Hove.

Tidy garden patio and lawn after green waste removal

Brighton gardens

City gardens are usually small and reached through the house, and many of them are steep or terraced into the hillside. Out towards Patcham, Withdean and Rottingdean the gardens get larger, with mature hedges and trees. Garden clearances in the city mean carrying everything by hand through the property, which we do carefully.

After: the beach hut plot cleared, with the sea behind

Coast and seafront

Hove's famous seafront beach huts and the flats along the seafront are hit hard by salt air. We clear beach hut contents, rusted furniture and water-damaged belongings from seafront properties.

Conservation areas and period homes

Large parts of Brighton and Hove are conservation areas, with listed Regency squares and crescents in Kemptown, Brunswick and Adelaide. We take extra care with original staircases, railings and doorways, and work quietly and considerately in shared buildings.

Loft space crammed with boxes, cases and old furniture before a loft clearance

Homes in Brighton

Much of central Brighton and Hove is made up of Regency and Victorian townhouses that have been converted into flats, often with four or five floors and no lift. Hanover and Elm Grove are packed with steep terraced streets, while Patcham, Withdean, Hangleton and Westdene are mainly inter-war and post-war semis and bungalows. Understanding the building is the key to pricing a Brighton clearance accurately.

The detail

Sheds, summerhouses and outbuildings

Timber sheds and summerhouses are dismantled panel by panel, roof felt and glass are removed carefully, and the timber is separated for recycling where possible. We can also break up and remove concrete bases if you want the ground cleared completely.

Older sheds and garages sometimes have corrugated cement roof sheets. These can contain asbestos and must not be broken up. If you are unsure, tell us before we arrive and we will advise you on getting it checked.

Walls, fencing, decking and patios

We take down low garden walls, fencing, pergolas, decking and raised beds, and break up patios and paths. All of the rubble, timber and soil is removed. If the wall is a boundary or retaining wall, check with your neighbour and a structural professional first, as these can have legal and safety implications.

Clean rubble is taken for recycling into aggregate, and timber is recycled where possible.

How demolition & dismantling in Brighton & Hove works

Brighton is around eleven miles east of our Worthing base, roughly thirty minutes along the A27 or the A259 through Shoreham and Hove. Here is how a typical demolition & dismantling job in Brighton & Hove works:

1

Send us photos

WhatsApp a few pictures of the waste and the route to the road, or call 01903 962 492. Tell us your postcode and when suits you.

2

Get a clear price

We reply with a fixed quote based on what we can see. No hidden extras, no pressure, and no obligation to book.

3

We load and sweep

Our team arrives on the agreed day, carries everything out, loads the van and sweeps up behind us.

4

Responsible disposal

Waste goes to licensed facilities to be sorted and recycled where possible. Businesses get a waste transfer note.

What affects the price of demolition & dismantling in Brighton & Hove

We quote every job individually from photos, so you know the cost before we arrive. The main factors are:

Size of the structure

A small shed versus a large summerhouse.

Materials

Timber, glass, brick and concrete have different disposal costs.

Bases and foundations

Breaking up concrete adds time and weight.

Access

Rear gardens with no side access take longer.

Contents

Clearing contents first adds volume.

How to prepare

  • Empty sheds and outbuildings, or ask us to clear the contents too.
  • Tell us about any cement roof sheets or materials you are unsure of.
  • Disconnect any electricity supply to outbuildings using a qualified electrician.
  • Check boundary features with your neighbour first.
  • Tell us if you want concrete bases removed as well.
  • Mark any plants or features that must be protected.

Responsible disposal

Where your Brighton waste goes

Timber is separated for recycling, metal frames are recycled, glass is handled safely, and rubble is taken for crushing into aggregate. Everything goes to licensed facilities.

Brighton & Hove City Council offers a chargeable bulky waste collection and runs household waste recycling sites at Hollingdean and Wilson Avenue. These are fine for the occasional item. For multiple items, mixed rubbish or anything that needs carrying down several flights of stairs, a single visit from us is usually quicker and better value.

Fantastic service I highly recommend them, took a shed down yesterday rang them last night they were here first thing this morning to take it away along with other garden waste. Highly competitive rates but they don't cut corners. They swept and tidied up after themselves as well, I'll definitely use A Star in all my future jobs. Thank you.

Quoted a good price for some hardcore removal after breaking up a pathway. A Star came and removed the waste the next day. The lads were polite and got the job done quickly. Highly recommend.

Jordan organized his crew to come and clear a mountain of rubbish from my back garden. A well overdue clearance all soggy and disintegrated and included a dead rat within..yuk. The lads did an amazing job. They were polite and courteous and worked flat out in the pouring rain. I can highly recommend them and will be using them again. I probably won't leave it so long next time though!
