Local strip-outs in Brighton & Hove
We remove fixtures, fittings, flooring and non-structural partitions from commercial and residential spaces, and take all the waste away.
Strip-outs in Brighton & Hove are planned and carried out by the same team that removes the waste. Brighton is around eleven miles east of our Worthing base, roughly thirty minutes along the A27 or the A259 through Shoreham and Hove. We work on shops, offices, warehouses and homes across Hove, Kemptown, Hanover, Preston Park and Seven Dials.
Whether you are handing back a Brighton & Hove unit at the end of a lease or preparing a space for a refit, we remove fixtures, fittings and flooring and leave it clear and swept, with a waste transfer note for your records.
Fantastic service I highly recommend them, took a shed down yesterday rang them last night they were here first thing this morning to take it away along with other garden waste. Highly competitive rates but they don't cut corners. They swept and tidied up after themselves as well, I'll definitely use A Star in all my future jobs. Thank you.

We carry out strip-outs for shops, offices, warehouses, garages and homes across Sussex. We do the removal work and the waste clearance together, so there is one team, one price and one set of arrangements to manage. The site is left clear, swept and ready for the next trade.

Strip-outs in Brighton & Hove: what we know locally
Every town has its own quirks. These are the things that shape strip-outs jobs in Brighton & Hove.
Local businesses
The city's shops, restaurants, offices and creative studios generate a lot of commercial waste, from shop refits in the North Laine to office moves near the station and back-of-house clear-outs in the hospitality trade. We provide waste transfer notes for every business collection.
Building and renovation
Renovation is constant in Brighton and Hove, from basement conversions to loft rooms and full townhouse refurbishments. Skips need a permit from the city council to go on the road and take up valuable parking, so a van collection of rubble, plasterboard and timber is often the easier route.
Parking and access
Most of central Brighton and Hove is covered by controlled parking zones, and many streets are narrow, steep or one-way. We plan the loading point before we arrive, and in some cases we will ask you to arrange a visitor permit or parking suspension. It is one of the reasons we always want to see the route to the road when quoting.
Conservation areas and period homes
Large parts of Brighton and Hove are conservation areas, with listed Regency squares and crescents in Kemptown, Brunswick and Adelaide. We take extra care with original staircases, railings and doorways, and work quietly and considerately in shared buildings.
What we take in Brighton & Hove

As part of our strip-outs service in Brighton & Hove, we also provide:
Shop & retail strip-outs
A retail strip-out removes the fittings and finishes that made a shop yours: counters, shelving, gondolas, display units, signage, flooring, ceiling tiles and back-of-house fittings. We do it quickly, so that the unit can be refitted or handed back on time.
Warehouses accumulate waste quietly: broken pallets, stretch wrap, cardboard, obsolete stock, damaged racking and old equipment. Before a move, a lease end or a reorganisation, it all needs clearing.
Converting a garage into a room, office, gym or annexe is one of the most popular home improvements. Before the builders arrive, the garage needs to be stripped back: contents out, shelving and workbenches removed, old fittings taken down and the floor cleared.
Lifting old carpet is a dusty, heavy job, and the waste is bulky. We lift carpets, underlay and gripper rods, remove staples, roll and cut everything for loading, and take it away, leaving the floor ready for your new flooring.
Commercial leases often require the tenant to remove their fit-out and return the premises to the condition set out in the lease when they leave. If that is not done, the landlord can make a dilapidations claim. A well-planned strip-out before handover can save a lot of money and dispute.
Tell us what the lease or landlord requires, and we will plan the strip-out around it, removing your fixtures, fittings and flooring and leaving the unit clear.
What a soft strip includes
A typical soft strip includes shelving, racking, counters and display fittings; stud partitions and suspended ceiling tiles; carpet, carpet tiles, vinyl and underlay; kitchens, toilets and basins; signage; and general waste and old stock. Structural elements, services and anything involving asbestos are outside the scope of a soft strip and need the appropriate specialists.
Before we start, we agree exactly what is being removed and what is staying, and we make sure utilities have been isolated where necessary.
How strip-outs in Brighton & Hove works
Brighton is around eleven miles east of our Worthing base, roughly thirty minutes along the A27 or the A259 through Shoreham and Hove. Here is how a typical strip-outs job in Brighton & Hove works:

WhatsApp a few pictures of the waste and the route to the road, or call 01903 962 492. Tell us your postcode and when suits you.
2

We reply with a fixed quote based on what we can see. No hidden extras, no pressure, and no obligation to book.

4
Responsible disposal
Waste goes to licensed facilities to be sorted and recycled where possible. Businesses get a waste transfer note.
What affects the price of strip-outs in Brighton & Hove
We quote every job individually from photos, so you know the cost before we arrive. The main factors are:
Size of the space
Square footage and number of rooms.
Scope
How much is being removed.
Materials
Plasterboard and mixed waste have different disposal costs.
Access and timing
Out-of-hours work and restricted access take longer.
Duration
Larger strip-outs may run over several days.
How to prepare
Confirm what the lease or landlord requires on handover.
Arrange isolation of electrics, water and gas where needed.
Check whether an asbestos survey exists for the building.
Tell us about access, working hours, loading bays and parking.
Remove confidential documents and data-bearing IT equipment.
Label anything that is staying or being reused.
Responsible disposal
Where your Brighton waste goes
Strip-out waste is separated into metal, timber, plasterboard, cardboard, carpet and general waste, then taken to licensed facilities for recycling or disposal. A waste transfer note is provided for every commercial job.
Brighton & Hove City Council offers a chargeable bulky waste collection and runs household waste recycling sites at Hollingdean and Wilson Avenue. These are fine for the occasional item. For multiple items, mixed rubbish or anything that needs carrying down several flights of stairs, a single visit from us is usually quicker and better value.

Swift and efficient waste removal. Quick response from the team. Quoted the job from the photos I sent. They kept in communication with us, so we weren't hanging around. The guys worked quickly to clear the area, they were very professional. I highly recommend their service.

Bit of a mix up with timings but once arrived the boys were quick, efficient and very thorough in their work. There was an awful lot of stuff in our garage that was not being used and we needed it clearing for selling our house.

Jordan organized his crew to come and clear a mountain of rubbish from my back garden. A well overdue clearance all soggy and disintegrated and included a dead rat within..yuk. The lads did an amazing job. They were polite and courteous and worked flat out in the pouring rain. I can highly recommend them and will be using them again. I probably won't leave it so long next time though!
