Fridge & freezer collection Southwick

Local fridge & freezer collection in Southwick

We carry out old fridges, freezers and white goods from wherever they are and send them for proper recycling, where refrigerant gases are safely removed.

Fridge and freezer collection in Southwick is quick and simple. Southwick is around seven and a half miles east of our Worthing base, roughly twenty minutes along the A259 or A27. We carry old fridges, freezers and white goods out of homes, flats and businesses across Southwick Green, Southwick Square, Kingston Buci, Fishersgate and Eastbrook.

Every appliance collected in Southwick goes to licensed WEEE recycling, where refrigerant gases and foam are removed safely and the metal and plastic are recovered.

A Star Waste Management did a great job clearing a big pile of old decking from my garden. They were efficient, reasonably priced and the men were polite and respectful, and were mindful not to damage any of my plants. Would definitely use their service again.

We collect fridges, freezers, fridge-freezers and American-style units from homes, flats, garages and businesses, carrying them out from wherever they are, including upstairs flats and awkward kitchens. We also take other white goods, such as washing machines, tumble dryers, dishwashers and cookers, in the same visit.

Local knowledge

Fridge & freezer collection in Southwick: what we know locally

Every town has its own quirks. These are the things that shape fridge & freezer collection jobs in Southwick.

Flat interior with bin bags, a rolled rug and dismantled furniture ready to go

Flats and apartments

Southwick has a number of low-rise flats and maisonettes, particularly around Southwick Square and towards Fishersgate. Many have communal stairs and no lift, so we plan how to bring larger furniture down safely without damaging walls or banisters.

Gloved hands sorting timber offcuts and cardboard for recycling

Council services and us

Southwick is part of Adur district, so bins, bulky waste collections and garden waste bins are handled by Adur & Worthing Councils. The council service suits a single item; we are the better fit when there is a lot to clear, or when it all needs carrying out of the house.

Rental kitchen with bags and furniture left behind at the end of a tenancy

Landlords and lettings

Rental properties around Southwick Square and Fishersgate change hands regularly. We help landlords and agents empty flats and houses quickly between tenancies, including clearing gardens and garages that have been left full.

Furnished living room with sofas, a dresser and ornaments ahead of a house clearance

Homes in Southwick

Southwick's older properties are grouped around the Green and the streets leading off it, with cottages and period houses that have narrow hallways and tight staircases. Moving away from the centre, the roads towards Southwick Hill and the Downs are lined with 1930s semis and detached houses, many with garages and generous gardens. Fishersgate and the streets near the harbour have terraces and more recent housing.

The detail

Why fridges need special handling

Older fridges and freezers can contain CFCs or HCFCs, and newer ones contain HFCs or hydrocarbons, both in the cooling circuit and in the insulating foam inside the walls. Specialist treatment plants degas the circuit and process the foam in sealed conditions so that these gases are captured rather than released.

Because of that extra treatment, fridges and freezers cost more to dispose of than general waste. It is also why it is worth using a licensed carrier: a fridge that ends up dumped or stripped for scrap can leak gases and oil into the environment.

Getting it out of the house

Fridges and American-style fridge-freezers are heavy, awkward and easy to damage walls and floors with. We bring enough people to carry them safely, take doors off where necessary to get through tight spaces, and protect floors on the way out.

Please switch the appliance off and defrost it at least a day before we come. It saves water leaking through your house and our van.

Where your Southwick waste goes

All fridges, freezers and white goods go through licensed WEEE recycling. Refrigerant gases and insulation foam are captured at specialist treatment plants, and metals and plastics are recovered for reuse.

Whoever takes your waste, check they are a registered waste carrier. Householders have a legal duty of care, and if waste you paid someone to remove is fly-tipped it can be traced back to you. We are licensed and insured, take every load to authorised facilities, and are always happy to show our credentials.

Super helpful! I sent a message on WhatsApp on the weekend and got a reply the same day with a price. They came and collected 2 days later and all was left clean and tidy. Really efficient. Would highly recommend.

Jordan organized his crew to come and clear a mountain of rubbish from my back garden. A well overdue clearance all soggy and disintegrated and included a dead rat within..yuk. The lads did an amazing job. They were polite and courteous and worked flat out in the pouring rain. I can highly recommend them and will be using them again. I probably won't leave it so long next time though!
