Timber sheds do not last forever. After a few years of Sussex wind and rain, roofs leak, floors rot and doors stop closing. Replacing a shed starts with getting the old one out, and that is what we do.
We empty the shed if needed, dismantle it panel by panel, remove the roof felt and any glass, and take everything away. If you want the concrete or slab base removed too, we can break it up and clear it.

Shed contents
Most sheds are full of tools, pots, bikes, garden furniture and half-used tins. We clear the contents first, setting aside anything you want to keep, then take down the structure.
Garden chemicals, fuel and liquid paint need specialist disposal, so tell us if there are any.

Advice
Replacing an old shed
If a new shed is on order, time the removal of the old one for a few days before delivery so the base can be checked and levelled. Many timber bases are rotten after years of damp, and concrete or slab bases sometimes need breaking up and relaying. We can remove whatever is not needed.
Suppliers usually need clear access to the site on delivery day, so we can also clear the path and any clutter nearby at the same time.
Good to know
Metal sheds and asbestos roofs
We also remove metal and plastic sheds. Very old sheds and garages with corrugated cement roof sheets may contain asbestos, which we cannot handle. If you are unsure, get it checked first.
Timber is recycled where possible, and metal is sent for scrap recycling.
Overgrown garden clearance
When a garden has been left for a season or more, we can cut back overgrowth, clear brambles and nettles, strim long grass and remove the resulting waste, along with any rubbish that has been hidden in the undergrowth. It is a common job for new homeowners and for families clearing a relative's property.
We will talk to you about what should stay, such as mature shrubs, trees or features, and work around them. The aim is to leave a clear, workable garden you or your gardener can take forward.

What affects the price
We quote every job individually, usually from photos. The main factors are:
Measured by volume, based on your photos.
Soil, turf, rubble and paving are heavy and cost more to dispose of.
Sheds, greenhouses and decking need dismantling time.
A long carry or a route through the house takes longer.
If we are clearing overgrowth rather than just removing waste, labour time increases.
How to prepare
- Point out any plants, shrubs or features you want to keep.
- Tell us how we get into the garden: side gate, back lane or through the house.
- If waste has to come through the house, we will protect floors, so let us know.
- Mention anything heavy, such as soil, turf or paving, when you send photos.
- Check old sheds and garages for cement roof sheets and tell us if you are unsure.
- Move cars from the drive if we need to park close to the garden.
Responsible disposal
Where your waste goes
Green waste goes to licensed composting facilities. Timber, metal and glass are separated for recycling where possible, rubble and soil go to inert waste facilities, and the remainder is taken to licensed transfer stations.
Whoever takes your waste, check they are a registered waste carrier. Householders have a legal duty of care, and if waste you paid someone to remove is fly-tipped it can be traced back to you. We are licensed and insured, take every load to authorised facilities, and are always happy to show our credentials.
Fantastic service I highly recommend them, took a shed down yesterday rang them last night they were here first thing this morning to take it away along with other garden waste. Highly competitive rates but they don't cut corners. They swept and tidied up after themselves as well, I'll definitely use A Star in all my future jobs. Thank you.
