Waste clearance
Waste clearance across Worthing and Sussex
When there is more than a few bags, we clear the lot: mixed household, garden and commercial waste, loaded, sorted and taken to licensed facilities.
Waste clearance is what we do when a job goes beyond a quick collection. It might be a house, flat or garage that has been filling up for years, a property that needs emptying before a sale or new tenancy, a garden full of rubble and timber after a project, or a business with a backlog of stock, packaging and old furniture. Whatever the mix, we clear it in as few visits as possible.
Our tipper vans are built for mixed waste. We load general rubbish, bulky furniture, electricals, garden waste and light building waste together, sorting as we go so that recyclable materials are kept separate. For larger clearances we bring extra hands or a second van, so the job gets done in a day rather than dragging on.
I chose A Star waste management as I was very pleased with the service provided previously they removed a lot of household rubbish for me quote was very reasonable and affordable nice guys came today for garden waste again good service will definitely use them again highly recommend THANKYOU

The price is agreed before we start, usually from photos. If the job is large or complicated, we can visit to look first. On the day we do all of the lifting, carrying and loading, and we leave the space swept.

The detail
How we plan a larger clearance
For a bigger job, the planning matters as much as the lifting. We look at how much waste there is, what it is made of, how far it has to be carried, and whether anything needs dismantling. That tells us how many people and vans we need and how long it will take.
We also ask what needs to stay. On house clearances in particular, it is common for families to want certain items kept, donated or set aside for checking. We work around that, and we would always rather ask twice than take something you wanted to keep.
Sorting and recycling as we go
Mixed waste is sorted into its main streams as it is loaded: metal, cardboard and paper, timber, green waste, electricals, rubble and general waste. Separating it at the point of collection means more of it can be recycled at the transfer station and less goes to landfill.
Electrical items are taken for proper WEEE recycling, fridges and freezers go to facilities that remove refrigerant gases safely, and upholstered sofas and armchairs are kept apart because they now require specialist disposal. Reusable furniture and household items are set aside where possible.
Residential and commercial waste clearance
For households, a waste clearance usually means emptying a house, flat, loft, garage or garden. For businesses, it can be an office move, a shop refit, a stockroom clear-out or a yard that has become a dumping ground. The process is the same, but commercial customers also receive a waste transfer note describing the waste and where it went.
We work around your schedule, whether that means clearing a property before a completion date, finishing before a new tenant arrives, or working early so that a shop can open on time.

Waste goes to licensed facilities to be sorted and recycled where possible. Businesses get a waste transfer note.
What affects the price
Every job is quoted individually from photos. These are the factors that make the difference:
Measured roughly in van loads, based on your photos or a visit.
Heavy inert waste and specialist items cost more to dispose of.
More stairs, longer carries and more dismantling mean more time.
Larger jobs may need extra hands to finish in a day.
We will always try to meet your date; very tight turnarounds may need extra resource.
How to prepare
- Tell us everything that needs to go, including lofts, sheds and outbuildings, so the quote covers it all.
- Set aside or label anything you want to keep, donate or check before it goes.
- Remove valuables, important paperwork and personal documents first.
- Let us know about access: stairs, narrow doors, long drives or restricted parking.
- If a property is being sold or let, give us the deadline so we can plan backwards from it.
- For commercial jobs, tell us about working hours, security and site rules.
Responsible disposal
Where your waste goes
All waste is taken to licensed transfer stations and recycling facilities. We sort as we load, so metal, timber, cardboard, green waste and electricals can be recycled, and we keep reusable items out of the waste stream wherever we can. Business customers receive a waste transfer note for their records.
Whoever takes your waste, check they are a registered waste carrier. Householders have a legal duty of care, and if waste you paid someone to remove is fly-tipped it can be traced back to you. We are licensed and insured, take every load to authorised facilities, and are always happy to show our credentials.

Absolutely brilliant service, highly recommend. They saved me in a last minute fudge up and were an absolute delight, super quick job and great personalities, thanks lads
A Star Waste Management provided a prompt and straightforward service from start to finish. Communication was clear, collection was arranged at a convenient time, and the waste was removed efficiently with no mess left behind. Polite, professional, and easy to deal with.
Arranged via WhatsApp, great pricing and all rubbish cleared professionally and efficiently. Staff were friendly and polite. Highly recommended, much cheaper than getting a skip and loading it yourself.
We used this company for the first time today, very responsive to messages and hard working guys. Cleared all rubbish we requested to be removed and we highly recommend them to anyone wanting a fast service, very reasonable price which saved us paying more for a skip! Will definitely be using them again.
Saw one of there trucks driving through Worthing, called the number today. Sent a picture of what we needed clear. They came back straight away with a price and were able to pick it all up on the same day. Really friendly team and great service. Will definitely be using this company again.
Really good service. Competitive price and left the site clear. I liked the good communication e.g. pictures of the finished job as I couldn't be at home as I was working. Great job and I would use them again.
Local service
Waste clearance near you
We provide waste clearance across the Sussex coast. Choose your town for local details, access tips and area-specific FAQs.
What is the difference between waste clearance and rubbish collection?
Rubbish collection is usually a straightforward pick-up of bags and items. Waste clearance covers bigger jobs, such as emptying a whole property, garage, garden or business premises, often with a mix of materials and more planning.
Can you clear a whole house in one day?
Most homes can be cleared in a day, sometimes with two vans. Very full properties can take longer, and we will tell you what to expect when we quote.
Do you recycle the waste?
Yes. We separate recyclable materials as we load and take everything to licensed facilities that recycle as much as possible.
Do you provide a waste transfer note?
Yes, for commercial customers, and on request for householders.
Can you work to a deadline?
Yes. Give us your completion, move-out or opening date and we will plan the clearance around it.
Can you visit to quote?
For larger or more complex jobs, yes. For most clearances, photos and a short description are enough for an accurate price.
What if there is more waste than expected on the day?
We quote on what we see. If there is significantly more, we will show you and agree any change before we load it.
Can you remove waste left by previous tenants or owners?
Yes, once the owner or landlord has confirmed it can be removed.
