Furniture collection across Worthing and Sussex
We collect unwanted furniture from any room, dismantle it if needed, and make sure sofas and armchairs are disposed of under the current rules.
Old furniture is bulky, heavy and difficult to get rid of. It will not fit in the car, the council's bulky collection might be weeks away, and charity shops are increasingly selective about what they accept. We collect furniture from any room in the house, carry it out, dismantle it if it will not fit through the door, and take it away.
We collect sofas, armchairs, beds, mattresses, wardrobes, chests of drawers, dining tables and chairs, desks, bookcases and garden furniture, from single items to a whole house full. Several of our customers first contacted us about one sofa and ended up clearing half the garage too, because it was easier to do it all at once.
Such an amazing company! Communication was brilliant, the clean up was outstanding. Took everything little bit, was very pleased with the results. Also managed to fit me in very quickly which was a bonus! Will be using them again for sure! Thanks again guys.

Where furniture is still in good condition, we set it aside for reuse wherever possible. The rest is sorted for recycling and disposal at licensed facilities.

The detail
Sofas and armchairs: the POPs rules
Since the end of 2022, the Environment Agency has required waste upholstered domestic seating, such as sofas, sofa beds, armchairs, upholstered stools and office chairs, to be treated as containing persistent organic pollutants (POPs). These chemicals were used in older flame retardants and foams, and they must be destroyed rather than landfilled or recycled with other waste.
In practice, that means sofas and armchairs are kept separate from other waste and sent for incineration at permitted facilities. It is one reason sofa disposal costs more than it used to, and why you should be cautious of anyone offering to take a sofa away very cheaply.
Dismantling and access
Furniture that came in flat-packed often will not come out in one piece, and some sofas were delivered before a staircase was changed. We dismantle wardrobes, beds, bunk beds, desks and shelving as needed, and we carry sofas down stairs and through tight doorways without damaging walls or banisters.
Please let us know about stairs, narrow landings and lifts when you send photos, so we bring the right tools and enough people.
Mattresses and beds
Mattresses are bulky and hard to dispose of. Where available, we send them to specialist recycling, where the springs, fillings and fabrics are separated. We collect all sizes, along with divan bases, headboards and bed frames.
See our dedicated pages for bed collection, mattress collection and sofa collection for more detail.

What affects the price
Every job is quoted individually from photos. These are the factors that make the difference:
A single armchair costs less than a three-piece suite.
Sofas and armchairs have higher disposal costs.
Priced individually for recycling.
Time taken to break down items.
Stairs and tight corners.
How to prepare
- Tell us how many items there are and which rooms they are in.
- Mention stairs, narrow doorways or lifts.
- Empty drawers, wardrobes and cabinets.
- Let us know if any items need dismantling.
- Tell us which items are upholstered seating, as they are handled separately.
- If items are good enough to reuse, mention it and we will set them aside where possible.
Responsible disposal
Where your waste goes
Upholstered seating is kept separate and sent for incineration under the POPs rules. Mattresses go to specialist recycling where available, timber and metal furniture is recycled, and reusable items are set aside wherever possible.
Whoever takes your waste, check they are a registered waste carrier. Householders have a legal duty of care, and if waste you paid someone to remove is fly-tipped it can be traced back to you. We are licensed and insured, take every load to authorised facilities, and are always happy to show our credentials.

Super helpful! I sent a message on WhatsApp on the weekend and got a reply the same day with a price. They came and collected 2 days later and all was left clean and tidy. Really efficient. Would highly recommend.
Collected the day following my initial message. Arrived in the morning and everything removed quickly and left tidy. Reasonable price too - excellent job! Thank you.
Can't speak highly enough of this service. They were speedy, efficient and polite. Above all they were very reasonably priced. Thankyou so much guys I will be happy to recommend you to friends and neighbours.
Just used A Star Waste Management and the service was fantastic. The chap was extremely polite and efficient and I would certainly use this company again and recommend them whenever I can.
Fantastic service I highly recommend them, took a shed down yesterday rang them last night they were here first thing this morning to take it away along with other garden waste. Highly competitive rates but they don't cut corners. They swept and tidied up after themselves as well, I'll definitely use A Star in all my future jobs. Thank you.
A Star are absolutely brilliant. Turn up when they say they will, are professional, friendly and helpful. And stick to their very reasonable quotes and would certainly use them in the future. Thank you A Star.
