Builders waste
Builders waste across Worthing and Sussex
We collect rubble, plasterboard, timber and old fittings from renovations and building sites, loading it ourselves so the trades can keep working.
Building work creates a surprising amount of waste. A bathroom refit produces tile rubble, an old suite and plasterboard; a kitchen replacement leaves a pile of old units and worktops; an extension generates bricks, blocks, soil and timber offcuts. If that waste is not moved regularly, it clogs up the site and slows everything down.
Our builders waste clearance service is used by homeowners doing their own renovations and by builders, plumbers, kitchen fitters, electricians and landscapers who need waste moving quickly. Our tipper vans are designed for heavy loads, and we do the loading ourselves, straight from where the waste has been stacked.
A Star Waste Management provided a prompt and straightforward service from start to finish. Communication was clear, collection was arranged at a convenient time, and the waste was removed efficiently with no mess left behind. Polite, professional, and easy to deal with.

Compared with a skip, there is no permit to arrange, nothing blocking the drive or the road, and no waiting for collection. You can book us for a single collection at the end of the job or regular pick-ups as the work progresses.

The detail
Plasterboard must be kept separate
Plasterboard and other gypsum-based waste must not be mixed with general waste going to landfill, because when gypsum breaks down with biodegradable waste it can produce hydrogen sulphide gas. That is why many skip firms charge extra or refuse mixed loads containing plasterboard.
We handle it properly. If you can keep plasterboard offcuts in a separate pile or bag, it makes the job quicker and cheaper, but we can separate it on site if needed. It is then taken for gypsum recycling.
Heavy waste and weight limits
Rubble, bricks, concrete, soil and tiles are heavy. A van reaches its legal weight limit long before it is full by volume, so heavy waste is priced differently from lighter mixed waste. If your job is mostly rubble, soil or hardcore, see our hardcore collection service.
Tell us roughly what the waste is made of when you send photos, and we will bring the right vehicle and give you an accurate price.
For homeowners and for the trade
Homeowners use us at the end of a DIY project or after trades have finished, particularly when the builder's price did not include waste removal. Trades use us to keep sites clear during a job, often booking regular collections so waste never builds up.
Commercial customers receive a waste transfer note with every collection, so your duty of care paperwork is always in order.

What affects the price
Every job is quoted individually from photos. These are the factors that make the difference:
Rubble, concrete and soil are priced by weight as much as by volume.
Lighter mixed waste is priced by how much van space it uses.
Separated gypsum waste has its own disposal cost.
Waste that is bagged and stacked is quicker to load.
Regular collections for trades can be priced as a package.
How to prepare
- Stack waste in one area with clear access to the road or drive.
- Keep plasterboard separate from other waste if you can.
- Bag small rubble and tile waste to make loading quicker.
- Tell us roughly how much is rubble, soil or concrete, as it affects the price.
- Let us know about scaffolding, restricted parking or site rules.
- Flag anything you think might contain asbestos before we arrive.
Responsible disposal
Where your waste goes
Builders waste is separated into inert waste (rubble, brick, concrete and soil), gypsum (plasterboard), timber, metal and general waste, then taken to the appropriate licensed facilities. Inert waste is often crushed and reused as aggregate, timber is recycled where possible, and metal is recycled.
Whoever takes your waste, check they are a registered waste carrier. Householders have a legal duty of care, and if waste you paid someone to remove is fly-tipped it can be traced back to you. We are licensed and insured, take every load to authorised facilities, and are always happy to show our credentials.

Quoted a good price for some hardcore removal after breaking up a pathway. A Star came and removed the waste the next day. The lads were polite and got the job done quickly. Highly recommend.
Swift and efficient waste removal. Quick response from the team. Quoted the job from the photos I sent. They kept in communication with us, so we weren't hanging around. The guys worked quickly to clear the area, they were very professional. I highly recommend their service.
A Star are absolutely brilliant. Turn up when they say they will, are professional, friendly and helpful. And stick to their very reasonable quotes and would certainly use them in the future. Thank you A Star.
A Star Waste Management did a great job clearing a big pile of old decking from my garden. They were efficient, reasonably priced and the men were polite and respectful, and were mindful not to damage any of my plants. Would definitely use their service again.
Bit of a mix up with timings but once arrived the boys were quick, efficient and very thorough in their work. There was an awful lot of stuff in our garage that was not being used and we needed it clearing for selling our house.
We used this company for the first time today, very responsive to messages and hard working guys. Cleared all rubbish we requested to be removed and we highly recommend them to anyone wanting a fast service, very reasonable price which saved us paying more for a skip! Will definitely be using them again.
