House clearance
House clearance in Worthing and across Sussex
Whole or partial house clearances, planned around your deadline and carried out with care.
A house clearance means emptying a home of furniture, belongings and rubbish, either completely or leaving only what is staying. It is usually needed when a property is being sold, let, renovated or handed back, or when a family is dealing with a move into care or a bereavement.
We clear every room, plus lofts, garages, sheds and gardens, in as few visits as possible. You tell us what is staying, what is going to family and what should be set aside to check. We do the rest, from dismantling wardrobes to carrying the last box out, and leave the house swept and ready for the next stage.
Saw one of there trucks driving through Worthing, called the number today. Sent a picture of what we needed clear. They came back straight away with a price and were able to pick it all up on the same day. Really friendly team and great service. Will definitely be using this company again.

Planning a house clearance
We start with photos of each room, or a visit for bigger properties. From that we estimate the volume, the number of people and vans needed, and how long it will take. Most three-bedroom houses can be cleared in a single day.
If the house is being sold, tell us about viewings and the completion date. We can clear in stages, for example leaving some furniture for viewings and clearing the rest just before completion.

Advice
Clearing a house for sale
Estate agents will tell you that an empty, clean house photographs better and sells faster than one full of dated furniture. Many sellers ask us to clear everything except a few key pieces before photos and viewings, then come back for the rest just before completion. Buyers' solicitors usually expect vacant possession, which means the property empty of contents unless something has been agreed in writing.
If the loft, garage or shed are forgotten until the last week, completion can be delayed. We check every space when we quote, so nothing is left for the new owners to find.

Good to know
Reuse, recycling and responsible disposal
A typical house holds furniture, textiles, books, kitchenware, electricals and paperwork. We sort as we load: reusable items are set aside where possible, metals, electricals and cardboard are recycled, and the rest goes to licensed facilities.
Sofas and armchairs are kept separate for specialist disposal under the POPs rules, and fridges go to proper WEEE treatment.
Downsizing and moving into care
When someone moves from a family home into a smaller property or a care home, only a fraction of their belongings go with them. We can clear the rest before or after the move, working around removal firms and family members. We are patient and friendly, and we will never rush an older customer into decisions they are not ready to make.
Good-quality furniture and household items can often be reused. Where possible we set these aside for reuse rather than sending them for disposal.

Responsible disposal
Waste goes to licensed facilities to be sorted and recycled where possible. Businesses get a waste transfer note.
What affects the price
We quote every job individually, usually from photos. The main factors are:
The number of rooms and how full they are.
Furniture, electricals and sofas have different disposal costs.
Flats with stairs and long carries take longer than a bungalow with a drive.
Lofts, garages, sheds and gardens add to the volume.
We will always try to meet your deadline.
How to prepare
- Decide what is staying, going to family or being donated, and label it clearly.
- Remove valuables, jewellery, cash, keys and important documents.
- Check drawers, pockets, books and boxes for personal papers and photographs.
- Let us know if the property has been sold or let and when it needs to be empty.
- Tell us about access: stairs, lifts, parking and any building rules.
- Arrange keys with a neighbour, agent or solicitor if you cannot be there.
Responsible disposal
Where your waste goes
House clearance waste is sorted into reusable items, recyclable materials and general waste. Reusable furniture and household items are set aside where possible, recyclable materials go to the appropriate facilities, and the rest is taken to licensed waste transfer stations. Upholstered seating is kept separate for specialist disposal.
Whoever takes your waste, check they are a registered waste carrier. Householders have a legal duty of care, and if waste you paid someone to remove is fly-tipped it can be traced back to you. We are licensed and insured, take every load to authorised facilities, and are always happy to show our credentials.
